Both these words have same pronunciation but completely different meaning. <\/p>\n<p>Consider these sentences:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWho\u2019s there?\u201d<br \/>\n \u201cWho\u2019s the manager?\u201d<br \/>\n  \u201cHe\u2019s the man who\u2019s in charge of the department.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nIn each of these sentences we were saying:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWho is there\u201d?<br \/>\n\u201cWho is the manager\u201d?<br \/>\n\u201cHe\u2019s the man who is in charge of the department.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So, here we see that \u201cwho\u2019s\u201d is the contraction of \u201cwho is\u201d. Now, take a look at this sentence:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cParenting a child who\u2019s been mentally tortured is difficult\u201d.<\/em> Here, \u201cwho\u2019s\u201d is being used as the contraction of who has.<\/p>\n<p>Now, take a look at the sentence <em>\u201c\u201cGuess, who\u2019s quote is this?\u201d <\/em>Now, substitute \u201c who\u2019s\u201d in this construction  with \u201cwho is\u201d and \u201cwho has\u201d, and see does it make any sense? <\/p>\n<p>The correct word to be used here is \u201cwhose\u201d as in \u201cGuess, whose quote is this?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Whose is a relative pronoun that indicates \u201cbelonging to someone\u201d. In other words it shows possession.
