<\/a>The first step\u00a0is to take a gander at your CV. Everyweek I receive dozens of CVs from writers interested to work \u00a0for us but the depressing part is most of the applications I see are stuffed with grammatical errors and \u00a0wrong spellings.<\/div>\n

A few weeks back I saw an email with the subject line:<\/p>\n

\u201cInterested for the post of Contain<\/span><\/strong> <\/strong>Writer\u201d \u2013 this one jerked me out of my seat.<\/div>\n

Here’s a list of errors I’d noticed while sifting through numerous CVs. They are\u00a0undoubtedly annoying but at the same time they will\u00a0crack\u00a0you up.<\/div>\n

  • “I have excellent editing and <\/strong>poof<\/span><\/strong>–<\/strong>reading <\/strong>skills.” Really? Doesn’t appear so!<\/li>\n
  • “Looking to work for a company where I can nature<\/span><\/strong> my writing skills.”\u00a0\u00a0Sorry, we don’t nature our writers’ \u00a0skills.<\/li>\n
  • “I have a strong command of English Grammer<\/span><\/strong>.” <\/strong>The writer surely needs to fix her Grammar vs Grammer problem!<\/li>\n
  • ” Worked as a party<\/span><\/strong>-time writer for a web development company.” Sweetie you really had too much fun doing part(y) time jobs, I can see it \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n
  • “Written articles on varied topics and now most of them tank<\/strong><\/span> high on search engines.” Tank high…hmm!!<\/li>\n
  • “As an editor my job includes perverting<\/span><\/strong> news copies going out with mistakes.” No! No! We don’t deal with\u00a0pervert\u00a0copies.<\/li>\n
  • “Expert at multi-tasting<\/span><\/strong>.” No we don’t want multi-tasters in our office!<\/li>\n
  • “None of my articles had copy taste<\/span><\/strong> issues, all were copyscape passed”.<\/li>\n
  • Martial<\/strong> <\/span>Status: Unmarried.<\/li>\n
  • “I look forward to hearing from you shorty.<\/strong>“<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    CV errors, particularly in case of writers, leave a wrong impression. So, make sure that your CV is \u00a0grammatically correct and has no spelling mistakes.<\/p>\n

    Here are the 10 Resume Mistakes<\/strong> you should be careful of:<\/p>\n

    1.\tDon\u2019t misspell the position you are applying for.<\/div>\n
    2.\tAlso when sending your CV as an attachment do not misspell any word in the subject line. Mistakes in the subject line give that wrong first impression right away.<\/div>\n
    3.\tDo not make spelling mistakes. Take help from spell checker.<\/div>\n
    4.\tTypos are complete no-no.<\/div>\n
    5.\tDo not write sentences with different verb tenses.<\/div>\n
    6.\tDo not miss out punctuations. Let\u2019s Eat Grandma and Let\u2019s Eat, Grandma! Punctuation saves lives \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n
    7.\tDo not leave out apostrophes; also do not put them in places where they are not needed.<\/div>\n
    8.\tDo not use nouns and verbs that do not agree.<\/div>\n
    9.\tWrite simple and short sentences. Recruiters don\u2019t have the whole day to comprehend what you want to say.<\/div>\n
